Independent Publishing

I recently had the opportunity to attend a conference where I signed and sold copies of both of my books. The question I was most frequently asked was "Who is your publisher?" The answer it that question is me. I am my own publisher. My books are the products of independent or self-publishing. You can use your own name when you self-publish or you can choose a business name. My business name is The Book Nook. There is some confusion regarding self-publishing. Some people think that CreateSpace is a publisher. They are actually a distributor

Another distributor I've used is Ingram Spark. Both of these distributors have great, user friendly online tools that will walk you through the whole formatting process. It's really not as daunting as it seems. And definitely not as time consuming as shopping traditional publishing houses. It's also a really great felling knowing that you have control over the whole publishing process, if you're a control freak like I am. :) there are other options besides CreateSpace and IngramSpark, but they're the two that I've used and I've been completely satisfied. So if you have a story to tell, but don't know how to go about getting it published, check out these websites and give it a go! If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, I'd love to hear them! Leave a comment or send me a message. <3
